The PulpCast #003: Dolls are Scary
Hey everyone and welcome to the show notes for the third PulpCast. Obviously we’ve had some changes since the first episode and we hope you like them. First and foremost is the permanent addition of Stephanie to The PulpCast crew. Stephanie, Christian and I would like to publicly thank you for making this vanity project a reality. The other addition comes in the form of music in each and every podcast thanks to Rob Yerbich. Well, let’s get right into what you’ve come to expect in this section, links to many of the topics we discuss during the show.

We kicked off this episode by discussing my resurgence of interest in Warcraft III, an entertaining strategy game from the recent past. We also talked about the Nintendo DS Lite, which was released in North America on June 11th. Click this link for a list of released games for the DS platform. I took the time to check in over at eBay to see how much Puzzle Fighter was going for. It sells for a little over $20 on average. While that’s not bad for a PS1 game, it’s also not the most expensive game I’ve seen for that console. Come back here to see Stephanie’s Brain Age once she gets the camera back from her boyfriend.
Hey kids, comics! Mome is an anthology that showcases all of the things comic books can be. I’ve discovered that buy.com does offer this particular book cheaper than Amazon, so I’ve linked to that site. If you prefer to go to your local comic shop to buy the issues, more power to you. Do yourself a favor and check it out. Ah, the official Tarot site, just don’t click the link at work, some of the art is pretty risqué. If you like twisted revenge tales, sex, and violence, The Push Man and Other Stories is for you. Adam Casey makes mini comics that are funny. He calls them comix, which is also funny. Check out his photography as well, if you’re into that sort of thing or just click the catalog of mini comics link to see what work he has available for purchase currently. Oh and here’s a little ditty I like to call, “Mu for Dummies”.
Stephanie starts talking about dolls, specifically her favorite, Cool Girls, which have since spawned the smaller yet more popular Microman series of toys. Steph loves her Catwoman and Batman Cool Girl figures. Apparently her brother and her seamstress friendAndrea (an42) are really into it.
I don’t get it.
Well, that’s it for now, kiddies. We do encourage listener mail. If you’ve got a bone to pick with something one of the PulpCasters have to say or just want to tell me off, you can do so at pulpcast@gmail.com or discuss the episode on our message boards at http://www.pulparcade.com/forum. We’d love to hear from you! Christian will be back for the fourth PulpCast installment. Thanks for listening.

A little addendum: The pictures at the bottom of the page are of Otte and I when he came to California for a visit during this summer. He was pretty thrilled with taking pictures in front of his bookstore.

Hey, this is sephy from talk@. So I just had a few questions for you guys:
1) This fall, I’m buying SO many games, it’s ridiculous. Just to name a few, I’m getting the Final Fantasy XII Collector’s Edition, FFIII for DS, and Zelda for (hopefully) the new Wii I’ll have. My question is what is the one game you guys are most looking forward to purchase this fall? If the game is for wii/ps3, assume you already have the system.
2) It’s easy to figure out which game series I would desperately like to see in comic book form. Is there any game that you would like to see made into a comic?
Well that’s it for now. Enjoyed the shows so far. Keep up the good work.
Adam
Dug the show, however I was under the impression that Microman has been around since the 70’s, and was released in the US Under the name Micronauts which was the basis for the Marvel comics series, and that cool girl was a larger scale derivitive of them, not the other way around. Sorry if I am misremembering things, but I love my Microman toys….. The Gatchaman Ken Microman is the single coolest action figure ever.
If you guys ever need someone with the 411 on tabletop rpg’s gimme a holler.
