Nintendo Monopoly
I think for the first time in, like… ever, I want to buy a Monopoly game.
Hasbro is now taking pre-orders for the MONOPOLY®: Nintendo® Collector’s Edition board game. Like all licensed Monopoly games, the Nintendo edition will have special board pieces:
- Mario’s Cap
- Link’s Iron Boots
- Donkey Kong’s Barrel
- Hylian Shield
- Koopa Shell
- NES Controller
Prototype images of the playing pieces can be seen at Press The Button. I think my preference for playing pieces would have included Samus’ Helmet and the Triforce.
Also in the game, instead of buying and selling land, you are trading characters.
From USAopoly.com:
Now you can buy, sell and trade your favorite Nintendo characters for a whole new game-playing experience. From everyone’s favorite red-capped plumber to barrel-tossing Donkey Kong to bounty hunter Samus Aran, they’re all up for grabs in this exciting fun-filled adventure.
I dunno, it sounds like some bizarre slave trade. Just imagine it. “I’ll buy Link for $500. Forget that Zelda Oh Link, you are mine now, MINE!” *sticks slave deed card in pants*
And if that didn’t enter a new realm of creepy, I have no idea what will.
The game retails for $35.95 USD. US residents can pre-order the game here. The rest of the world will have to find another way to get it.
